I have read that within the next 5 years, the number of online businesses will just explode! Due to the economy and job losses, people are turning to the web to earn income from their home.If you decide to start your own online business, will you know what to do? When I look back at my own beginnings, I was pretty naive about the whole thing. You just can't believe everything you read--especially the stuff about overnight success and make millions within a week etc.
I started out with a Yahoo store--which is actually pretty nice. But, at that time, I knew nothing about Marketing or getting Traffic (customers) to your site, or Google ranking and all the other things.
I was pretty careful and didn't buy things that were "too good to be true" because you know what they say about that!
After trying some other things like eBay Stores (nothing wrong with those), I came upon an advertisement from Steve Clayton about their new step-by-step program that teaches you everything to run your own business (with very little money involved). My "gut" told me that this was not some "slick" salesman out to earn a buck. Steve & Tim (his partner) genuinely wanted to teach their own money making formula so we "beginners" would know exactly what to do.
Niche Blueprint is a step-by-step program teaching you what to do each step of the way. They did this through video, audio and pdf files. They split the program into "modules" and each module had videos and several manuals. You work at your own pace (but you do have a timeline to go by). When you finish that module, you start the next. Throughout the program, there are Free tools (programs) to make a lot of things easier!
The key to this whole program is not to get you to buy more stuff. In fact, the emphasis is on making a successful online business with almost no money. There are things you can do and programs to purchase if you have the extra money, but Steve & Tim wants to show you that you can do the same things with hardly any money. And they were right!
I had to pay for Steve & Tim's Niche Blueprint course--you can't expect that to be Free! The only other thing I have to "pay" for is the monthly hosting charge and buying a domain.
Hostgator.com is recommended (and I agree) a great, inexpensive hosting company with great technical support. You have to have a host--that is where all your files are kept for your business. You can buy a domain name from GoDaddy.com and other places. That is the name of your business with the "dot com, dot org, dot info" etc. My first online business was called BabysNursery-BeddingandMore.com. On average, you pay about $10 for a domain name (re-newed each year).
As of today, May 30, 2010, I have 27 money-making sites! They are all not online stores. I have also expanded into Affiliate Marketing and Adsense.
Don't expect this to be easy! At first--before your business starts to grow, expect to put in 8 hours a day working on it. If you don't, it will just take you that much longer to start making money.
In my next blog post, I will go into more detail about Niche Blueprint 2 (updated version).
